Day Camp Questions

There are a few pillars to your campers schedule with activities they will complete each day. Each week campers will participate in our adventure activities which include archery, rock climbing, fishing and canoeing. They will also see our four specialists, Nature, Adventure, STEAM and Sports. Everyday they will swim in our pool. Outside of these staples in the schedule, campers will have the opportunity for choice in electives. Counselors will fill the rest of the schedule.

See the For Parents and Campers page for a sample schedule and more detail.

We offer a 30 day period after you register where we will refund your session in full. After 30 days, we will refund 50% of the fee back to you. Cancelling within 7 days prior to the session beginning, you are responsible for the full cost. If there is a medical or other emergency, please contact our office and we will work with you on the refund. If there is availability in another session you are interested in, we can switch your camper to that session free of charge.

Morning drop off begins at 8:40 am and ends at 9:05. Please be patient as Monday mornings can take a little longer as there are nervous campers and car tags being handed out.

Afternoon pick up begins at 3:50 and ends at 4:15. If you arrive early in the afternoon, our staff will park you in our event parking lot before you drive up to pick up your camper.

For both drop off and pick up, we request you stay in your car.

Our goal for pick up is for you to pick your camper up as quickly as possible. For this reason, we have split our drop off into two locations. Our Junior campers and teens are located at the gym. Day campers are located at Rohrman. Staff will be available to direct you to the correct location for pick up.

See the property page for an interactive map.

In order to keep all our campers and staff safe, we only allow late drop off and early pick up at 1:00 pm. If you need to drop off late or pick up early please contact our office so we can have your camper and their group prepared.

Absolutely! Please contact emilie@paradisefarmcamps.org to set up a time to see the camp. We also have an open house in May where families can tour and speak with members of the staff.

Day camp Sessions are 5 days Monday – Friday.

See the Day Camp Page for dates and themes.

We have two nurses on our nursing team. The head nurse is stationed in her office and the second nurse moves throughout the camp property. All of our staff are CPR & first aid trained. All of our staff, including the nursing team, carry walkies. In case of an emergency, staff have the ability to call the nurse and/or the leadership team.

We ask that campers do not bring their cell phone to camp. We do this for a few reasons. First, our goal is for campers to unplug and enjoy all PFC has to offer. Second, camp is a virtual dead zone for cell service, most carriers do not have robust coverage at camp. Finally, in order to control the spread of misinformation we request that all communication to and from camp goes through our main office.

Campers are split into four different groups based on grade and developmental stage; we call these groups Units. These units are overseen by a Unit director. Within the Unit, there are cabin groups based on grade entering in the fall. Each cabin group has 2-3 counselors.

First is our Junior Camp for entering K – 2nd Grade.

Second is the Day Camp Unit for entering 3rd – 7th grade.

Third is our Teen Leadership Unit for entering 7th grade – 10th grade.

Finally is our CIT program for campers 15 -16.

Our staff are some of the best in the area! Staff must be 17 years of age and in their senior year of high school or older. The majority of our staff are studying education or already working in the field. After a thorough interview process staff must complete all clearances before campers arrive. All staff also take part in a week long staff training program which includes youth development best practices and first aid training.

Paradise Farm Camps is a part of ACA or the American Camp Association. We partake in the accreditation process. The main purpose of the ACA-accreditation program is to educate camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff. The standards establish guidelines for needed policies, procedures, and practices. The camp, then, is responsible for ongoing implementation of these policies.

Please refer to the weekly newsletter for photos of the current lost and found. Lost and found items will also be displayed at the drop off and pick up line. If your child will be returning for additional weeks, you can pick it up during the car line. If your child is not returning, email our office to set a time to come into the program center to pick those items up.

We try to accommodate all requests but for the safe supervision of all campers we cannot guarantee specific placements. When completing camp registration, please send an email to Emilie at emilie@paradisefarmcamps.org with your request. If we do not receive these requests by June 1, we will not be able to accommodate requests/changes to the rosters.

Our staff is trained to respond to inclement weather emergencies and extreme summer temperatures, and we have protocols in place to handle it. We have a variety of hot weather, or rainy day activities already created to ensure the campers are not missing out on any of the fun and lessons. In the event of abnormally high heat or excessive rain, our program staff may reach out prior to the week beginning with more information. If camp must be closed due to severe storms or flooding we will make every effort to contact you as early as possible.

There is a dedicated team in our office every day to answer your calls and emails. They do their best to answer each inquiry in a timely manner. Emilie will also send a weekly newsletter throughout the summer which details weather, notes and schedule changes. Finally parents have access to a Google Drive which is updated weekly with schedules and newsletters.

General Questions Overnight

While we cannot accommodate phone calls to and from campers throughout the session, sending mail and/or packages to your camper. Campers love receiving mail and letters. In order to ensure your camper receives their mail, at drop off hand staff all letters nd packages to be distributed. Please do not send your camper any food or technology. Cards, coloring books, glow sticks, frisbees, string and other activities are perfect!

Homesickness is normal for all campers; whether they are new or returning campers. We educate and train our staff on how to manage these feelings campers may be having. Our Leadership team works with the cabin counselor to help campers work through these emotions and support where needed. We also employ a dedicated behavior specialist who will work with the camper.

Campers will be staying in a cabin with 5-6 campers of the same age and gender expression; as well as a counselor.

When registering, all families must fill out a medical form, including any food or environmental allergies. The nurse reviews these thoroughly and works with the program staff and kitchen team, so please be sure to be thorough and accurate when completing this form.

When registering, all families must fill out a medical form, including any medications the camper will take throughout the week. The nurse reviews these thoroughly and works with the program staff to share important information. Before arriving at camp you will also need to fill out a medication approval form for each medication. At drop off, have the campers medication in the original packaging and enough for the entire week. You will meet with the medical team during drop off to hand over and discuss the medication.

We have an on call doctor who reviews all procedures and standing orders at the beginning of each season. We have two on-site medical team members for the Overnight program, who work under the Doctor’s Direction. One is a day time nurse who will work with campers and staff throughout the day. They are in charge of medications at lunch and dinner. The second is our overnight first responder. They will stay at camp overnight and be in charge of medication at nighttime and breakfast.
